Savannah
Fellenstein:
Associate
of Arts

There were times during Savannah Fellenstein’s college journey, when she felt uncertain. Her degree pathway wasn’t always clear and more than once, it changed completely. But she learned, through her time at Lorain County Community College, that every journey is unique. And that LCCC was the best place for her to explore who she is, and who she wants to be.

How did you find your way to LCCC?

After attending Ashland University, I realized that being away was not the right fit for me at the time. I chose LCCC because I wanted to be closer to home and have a fresh start in an environment where I felt more comfortable and supported. Coming to LCCC allowed me to focus on my education while staying connected to my family.

Why was LCCC the perfect place for you?

What really made LCCC the right choice was the flexibility it gave me to explore different majors and figure out what I truly wanted to pursue. It provided a supportive environment where I was able to explore different majors without feeling stuck or pressured to have everything figured out right away.  It was a place to grow, change directions, and discover my passion without feeling overwhelmed.

What is your passion?

Through my experience at LCCC, I ultimately discovered my passion for interior design. It gave me the confidence and direction I needed to take the next step in my education and career.

What is next for you?

After graduating from LCCC with my associate of arts, I plan to continue my education through Ohio University’s online program. I have decided to pursue a career in interior design, a field that has always interested and inspired me. My goal is to build a career where I can combine creativity and functionality to design spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful. I am excited to continue developing my skills and eventually work in the interior design field, creating environments that positively impact people’s lives.

What have you learned about yourself at LCCC?

At times during my college journey, I felt like I was behind compared to others my age. Seeing people around me follow a clear path made me question my own progress, especially as I changed majors and transferred schools. It was easy to feel discouraged and unsure of myself.  However, over time I realized that everyone’s journey is different, and that I am exactly where I need to be. My experiences, even the uncertain ones, helped shape who I am and guided me toward a path that truly fits me. I have learned to trust my own timeline and embrace the fact that I am on my own unique path.
